The next morning, Janet woke up still feeling tired. Long nights never made for a restful evening. Her apartment was only modestly furnished, but then she was hardly ever there. She’d always preferred to spend most of her free time at a café, people watching. Observing the little parts of humanity that seemed so strangely foreign to her. Maybe if she kept watching, she’d figure out how to feel something again.
